Widespread and locally common, especially in and around villages, at the edges of Biak town and in lightly vegetated farmland. 6 August 2015: six on Rani (N. Voaden, eBird checklist S 24512191). Breeding 11 January 1997: nest in a Plumeria sp. tree; 12 January 1997: nest atop a TV antenna; 12 October 1997: nest at tip of a palm frond c. 3.5 m above a stream (SvB).
