Common above 1,475 m, singing, often in pairs. Previously recorded for the Adelberts only byȱPrattȱ (1982). WAHNES’S PAROTIA Parotia wahnesi Uncommon: ȱheardȱfiveȱtimesȱbetweenȱ 1,495 ȱandȱ 1,660 ȱm. ȱItsȱvocalisationsȱareȱaȱmedleyȱofȱ staccato clucks; short harsh notes are repeated at half-second intervals, like the sound made by striking a hollow log; other unusual sounds; and clear notes. Well known to Munggur villagers and named ‘ kakopelima’. We found no display courts, probably because villagers reportedȱthatȱtheseȱareȱsitedȱinȱgulliesȱratherȱthanȱonȱtheȱridge. ȱPreviouslyȱreportedȱbyȱPrattȱ (1982).
