Bamboo forest specialist. Silva et al. (2015) first recorded this species in HFR, and TNM subsequently studied its foraging behaviour, which is focused exclusively on bamboo leaves and branches (Melo & Guilherme 2016). Density of R. megacephalum along a 10 - km transect in the study area was estimated 1.5 individuals / km 2, with the species being exclusively recorded in areas of bamboo. In the 2018 study of mixed-species flocks, DPG considered R. megacephalum to be a constant in flocks led by Thamnomanes schistogynus.
