Widespread and common in all wooded habitats. Breeding 13 March 1976: two nearly fledged young, probably this species, held by children (Melville 1979); 12 January 1997: a well-developed fledgling; 26 April 2007 an adult carrying nest materials (SvB); 24 September 2019: two begging juveniles (P. Lansley, eBird checklist S 87711121).
