Species profile

Petronia albigularis

Petronia albigularis

Quick answer

COMMENTS: Brehm did not enumerate his specimens of this form in the original description. Two specimens came to AMNH with the Rothschild Collection. A male and a female specimen of albigularis were collected on the same day at Sennar. Hartert (1918 a: 14), by listing the male as the type, designated it the lectotype. The female, AMNH 456580, is a paralectotype. This species is often included in the genus Petronia. Most recent authors consider the species dentata monotypic, but Summers- Smith (2009: 810) recognized two subspecies.
