Species profile
Green-capped Eremomela
Eremomela scotops
Quick answer
TYPE MATERIAL: Sundevall (1850: 103), in his original description, gave no indication that he had more than a single specimen at hand. From Sundevall’s manuscript catalogues, however, he apparently had three specimens. Gyldenstolpe (1926: 50) referred to NRM 569702 [6703] as a “ type ”; we treat this as a lectotype designation of this adult male collected 24 November 1843 at Saulspoort (Mohapoani). The two paralectotypes are: NRM 537661 [6704], a mounted female collected 13 October 1843 at Saulspoort; and a male [6702] collected 24 November 1841 in the Magaliesberg, exchanged to Berlin in 1853 (but not found in the ZMB collection). VERIFIED TYPE LOCALITY: Saulspoort (Witfontein Berge, Mohoapoani), North West Province.
