Local name Man Kob Biror (Sansundi). Range T. s. saurophagus Biak, Supiori, Padaido Islands, Numfor, Yapen. Status Resident. Obtained by most collectors including Ripley. The latter observed it in mangroves at the edge of a swamp on Supiori. Thereafter rarely seen on Biak until the creation of the tsunami swamp, where it is common. 17 July 1994: one on Wundi in the Padaido Islands (D. Roberson, eBird checklist S 6813691).
