Holotype: ZMB 13842 (Lichtenstein 1832, Nr. 81 sub “ Anas ”), skin, collected by Meyen in “ Februar ” [= Feb 1831; Lichtenstein 1832] in “ Chile ” [= central Chile; see below]. Type locality. “ Chile ” according to Meyen (1834 a: 122), who offered no details. Lichtenstein (1832) mentioned that the holotype was collected in February. In February 1831 the Prinzess Louise was anchored at Valparaíso (Meyen 1834 b; Berghaus 1842) and during that time Meyen visited the modern-day Chilean regions of Valparaíso and O’Higgins and the Metropolitan Region.
